Biography
Élodie Lauton comes from the Montpellier region, in France. Surrounded by a family of musicians, she composed her own pieces at a very early age and began playing the piano at the age of four. At 17, she graduated from the Strasbourg Regional Conservatory and continued her classical music studies, earning a degree in musicology.
She then discovered jazz and improvised music, and realized she had found her calling. She studied jazz singing at the Basel Higher Jazz Conservatory in Switzerland with Susanne Abbuehl and obtained her Master’s degree, specializing in singing teaching.
Élodie then passed the competitive examination for artistic education teacher, specializing in coordinator of contemporary music. To this day, she remains one of the only French singers to have obtained this qualification.
She writes, composes, and invents a sound universe where French lyrics occupy a prominent place.
She shares the solo role in the group “Goldamour” with Jasper Van’t Hof (piano), Felix Graf, and Steve Argüelles for “Terminal B,” a record released on the prestigious German label “intuition.”
Élodie recorded her new project as a quintet, accompanied by Kirk Lightsey (piano), Stéphane Belmondo (guitar), Jorge Rossi (drums), and Tibor Elekes (bass). Félix Graf produced this new album dedicated to one of the first French realist singers, Damia.
Biographie

I’m convinced that anyone can sing well with a little technique and by listening to their feelings and emotions. It’s simply a question of finding your own path of vocal expression.
